Now, more than ever, is the time to buy and support local.
We are proud to be a part of the We Wear Australian campaign for the second year in a row, supporting the Australian Fashion industry and raising awareness for our local economy which has suffered immensely due to the Global Pandemic.
Why Supporting Local Business Matters
When you support locally owned businesses, you’re supporting the local economy and the employment of local people.
When you spend $100 at a local business, on average 58% more of your money stays in your community compared to spending that $100 at a multinational company based store.
Keeping money in our economy has never been more crucial as we battle through these long and extended lockdowns of 2021. Our domestic economy has been hit hard with our Fashion Retail sector suffering some of the worst of it.
The Return of Occasion Dressing
It is hard to believe that only a few months ago we enjoyed AAFW gracing the shores of Darling Harbour, debuting Resort and Racewear for the impending return of Occasion Dressing. From the highs of these celebrations to lows of what we are experiencing now, we are seeing businesses cripple as we pull on our sweats and trackies all over again and wish for this all to be over.
What is We Wear Australian
#WeWearAustralian supports the industry in its entirety – from designers to manufacturers, both of whom feel the continuing and increasing impact of Covid-19 with the extended retail closures & lockdowns across the majority of our country. Whether these labels design, manufacture or operate onshore, they are all creating jobs and maintaining Australia’s highly regarded reputation within the global fashion market.
#WeWearAustralian in 2020 dressed more than 10,000 disadvantaged Australians over the course of 3 weeks and created a social media movement championing Australian design and talent.
There has never been a more crucial moment in time to support the Australian fashion industry and again rally together in a collaborative effort #bettertogether.
